Resources to Support the BC IRPs
This wiki provides curriculum-related resources in multiple means of representation so that students who have difficulty reading the traditional textbook can access the same information as their peers in different ways.
Each wiki page is based on a BC IRP and contains a variety of resources that support that IRP including online research sites, games and interactives, videos, and photos. Books, Clicker5 grids and SMARTBoard resources that match the IRP are also listed. For each curriculum topic, a selection of the best sites for students has been collected in a visual index called a sqworl page.
Here are some of the ways teachers have been using this wiki:
- including students with special needs in the curriculum
- differentiating instruction by offering student choice
- alternate way to access curriculum material for students who are absent or can't read the textbook
- more practice with curriculum material for students who need more repetition
- showing photos, videos, or interactives on the SMARTBoard
- extension activities for students who need more challenge
- in computer lab with whole class (students only need to type in the sqworl address!)
- at home for parents who want to help support their kids (just give parents the sqworl address!)
Need more resources? Here are my favourite links for curriculum planning organized on a handy sqworl page.
